TLS/SSL support included in all Rebex FTP and Mail component variants

  |   Martin Vobr

Effective March 7, 2012, we simplified our offering by merging all 'lite' (without SSL) and 'full' (with SSL) product versions together. For example, there are no longer two separate versions of Rebex FTP (Rebex FTP and Rebex FTP/SSL). There is only one Rebex FTP/SSL, which includes all functionality of both merged product variants.

Which products are affected?

Discontinued ‘lite’ product version

Merged into

Rebex FTP

Rebex FTP/SSL

Rebex Mail

Rebex Secure Mail

Rebex POP3

Rebex POP3/SSL

Rebex IMAP

Rebex IMAP/SSL

How will it affect you?

  • If you purchased a ‘lite’ component after February 7, 2011 (one year and 30 days ago):
You got a FREE UPGRADE to SSL version. Just log into www.rebex.net/protected and download the new installation packages. And by the way – we’ve just released quite a fat update with lot of new features. More info about version 2012 R1 available here.

  • If you purchased a ‘lite’ component beforeFebruary 7, 2011: Support contract renewal for the discontinued version is no longer available, sorry. However, you can upgrade to the SSL version with 15% discount. And of course, you can continue using the old version indefinitely if you want to.

  • If you are not sure when the component was purchased:
Log into www.rebex.net/protected to see the status of your support contract or contact us at support@rebex.net.
  • If you planned to purchase a lite (without SSL) version and don’t want to pay more for version with SSL:
Until May 31, 2012 you can purchase an SSL version for the same price as a non-SSL version. Contact us at support@rebex.net and we’ll send you a discounted purchase link

Why are we making this change?

  • Mandatory TLS/SSL communication with mail and FTP servers is very common nowadays.
  • Percentage of users who wanted a ‘lite’ version has been steadily decreasing for a long time.
  • Many users who purchased a lite version later found out they in fact needed a TLS/SSL capable version and had to upgrade.
  • Less purchase options makes it simpler to everyone.
